The Move!

Our amazing moving crew!

Busy busy busy! This past weekend Ryan and I (along with the help of many family and friends) finished packing up our first home- loaded it all on a truck, and travelled to Longview to unload. It was an exhausting, exciting weekend.

Friday morning Ryan and I went to pick up the moving truck, and then had to go to a weigh station to have both my car and the truck weighed while they were empty. This is because we are doing a “diddy move” with the army… Where they pay for the cost of you moving yourself.
I ran by Shipley’s and got an array of donuts and kolaches and the work began! 10:30am-5pm was spent packing the truck neatly, filling it to the brim with furniture, belongings, and probably several items we don’t need. I can’t express enough how thankful we are for the help our my brother and sister, and friends who lent a hand. I helped organize, cleaned up trash, and ran some errands. It’s amazing how even those relatively simple tasks are exhausting to a third trimester preggo.

We slept hard Friday night, and both were up at 6am, getting ready to hit the road. 6:45am we grabbed our coffee and headed down the road. We arrived in Longview around 10:30am, and spent about an hour signing our lease agreement, and picking up our apartment keys. Ryan’s parents arrived as we were finishing, and shortly after some dear, long time friends came to help move in as well. Again, without their help, along with my brother, so much less would have been accomplished! The men were able to unload the truck while myself and the other ladies began to unpack and organize the kitchen. By about 4pm the guys had finished unloading items into our apartment and our storage unit. We ate a much deserved meal together at Newks… Conveniently 5 minutes away!

We spent some time Saturday evening setting up Flynn’s nursery. Ryan’s parents had bought us a crib and changing table, so it was fun putting those items together with them! I cannot wait to really get to work decorating his room. It will be so much fun!

New crib and Ryan’s old rocking horse! 🙂
New changing table. I love my in-laws.

Ryan and I had a hard time stopping, and kept working until about 11pm, when we both finally fell into bed.

Sunday morning we are breakfast with the in-laws and then set up the tv, and unpacked some of my decor. By lunch time I was ready to quit. I grabbed food for the guys and then took a nap. We left about 4:30pm- got back to Temple at 10:30pm. Again, so tired. But very thankful to have the move done. Unpacking is always more fun, and will be done at our leisure.

Ryan begins work next Monday at FMC. He is looking forward to starting his new job! We are so thankful for this opportunity, and look forward to being involved with this company.

I am experiencing fun pregnancy hormones- and do not look forward to Ryan moving while I finish up a couple more weeks of work here. Prayers are appreciated for wisdom & strength as we push through this final phase. We are currently staying with my ever-gracious sister, which is fun (because I have access to her closet). Thankful for her willingness to house us in our transition period.

I saw Flynn’s knee stick out of my tummy and he’s been super active. I think he’s doing rolls and practicing his football moves in there. Sometimes his movement are quite uncomfortable and I can’t help but think how much worse it’ll be as he gets bigger! However, I’m thankful he’s healthy and happy. Can’t wait to meet this little guy.

Is this not the most hilarious thing you’ve ever seen!?

I’m looking forward to a baby shower this weekend. Some of my grandma’a dear friends are throwing one for us. Also this coming weekend: maternity pics!!! 🙂 this past Saturday some ladies through my mom a “Grandma shower”, and she is excited to show me all of Flynn’s loot from that… Including a homemade quilt!

I’ve been monitoring myself so that I don’t get too tired. I had checked in with my doctor about moving, and she said I’m fine. Just to relax when I get tired. I think I’m still recovering from the three days of moving. But thankfully no more contractions. Since I’m in the third trimester I have to take the glucose test tomorrow to be sure I haven’t developed diabetes as a result of pregnancy.
Last week I stretched some ligaments in my lower abdomen, which was extremely painful. Most likely the result of multiple factors, but a lot of it has to do with Flynn’s rapid growth in the last two weeks.

We are overwhelmed with all the support we’ve had through this entire transition/preparation season, as well as the Lords provision in every way! He is so good, and is leading us on a wonderful journey together. ❤️ thank you Lord!

Good family friends for years. So thankful for their support, encouragement and help!
My brother has been incredibly helpful during this move!

The Third

Third trimester… 28 weeks!

We’ve hit the third trimester! 2/3 of the way there… can’t believe it’s been 6 months… and can’t believe there are still three more to go! Ryan and I are getting so anxious to meet our little Flynn.

We’re in the midst of packing. Picking up the moving truck in 8 days. I just realized today this is our last weekend in this house. I’m ready to start this moving process, and I’m excited about the change. But at the same time it’s always hard saying goodbye to the familiar. I have also realized how difficult it is to pack up what I feel will make the next week of life even slightly inconvenient. But today I’m biting the bullet and packing up as much of the kitchen as I can. I’m only leaving out the absolute necessities. And I’ll thank myself next week 🙂

Flynn seems to be doing very well. Bee-bopping around, kicking and punching me like crazy. It’s fun feeling his little movements, even if they are uncomfortable at times. I cannot wait to hold him, and see what kind of personality he’s going to have. I’m looking forward to moving at the end of June and setting up his nursery. Preparing for his arrival is such a joyous thing. I’m so thankful for the gift of life that God has blessed Ryan and I with.

Prayers are needed and appreciated in the following weeks. We’ll pack up all our stuff and move it to Longview next weekend. Then we’ll stay 1 week with my sister. Then Ryan will move to Longview to start at FMC and I will remain at my sister’s and finish up a couple more weeks of work. I know it’s not an incredibly long time, but I also know that I am really going to miss my husband for those couple weeks. We’ll get through, and I know people have to deal with much longer separations. But the pregnancy hormones are already causing me to have a hard time with that. I’m also praying that during that time everything with Flynn continues to go well, that there are no complications, and that we are able to transfer doctors smoothly in July.

Packing and packing!

Countdowns (24…50…98…)

I have a fun little app on my phone called Love Time that helps me keep track of multiple exciting (or intimidating) dates that are fast approaching. I love countdowns. They help motivate me, get me hyped up, and also serve to scare me into action. I just glanced at my countdown and realized the moving truck is coming in 24 days! We’ve packed up a lot of our stuff, but nothing like we should. It’s time to get going! Thankfully I am able to take Friday’s off this month, so I’ll have a few extra days in order to accomplish some of this. I say that… but we’re going out of town for the weekend haha.

The house is still on the market. It’s been shown a good number of times. Praying that just the right people come along and want to move quickly on purchasing their new home! It would be an amazing blessing not to have to worry about our mortgage once we move and are paying rent in Longview. We’ve never kept a house so consistently clean. Because of our dog I have to vacuum every. single. morning. which is getting old. But it makes for a very relaxing environment to come home to in the evenings!

50 is the number of days left before I leave my current job. Some days that seems forever away, and yet I know it will be here before I know it. This job has been a gift. I’ve learned so much and gotten wonderful experience. I have wonderful co-workers, great bosses, and am so thankful for my experience here. I’ll definitely miss it (to some extent) 😉

Once I finish up here I will move to Longview and have just over a month to prepare for Flynn’s arrival! I plan on using that month or so to get his room decorated, get familiar with my new town, and get organized. I’m hoping it goes by quickly… and I’m praying he comes just a little early… 🙂 I’m ready to hold him and kiss his sweet little cheeks!

98 is the number of days left until Flynn Daniel’s due date. I can’t believe we’re in the double digits. And yet 98 is a lot of days. I’m glad I have smaller countdowns to look forward to as well. And we truly have so much to get done before we are ready for him. This past weekend Ryan and I went to Baby Earth to check out strollers. We spent over 2 hours testing strollers, debating, going back and forth, researching… finally decided on the perfect stroller for us. (We found last years model online for $100 cheaper too, SCORE!). We went with the Baby Jogger City Mini GT, for those of you who are interested. I got it in gray, with a touch of green, so it’s gender neutral.
We’ve been so blessed by generous, amazing family and friends so far as we prepare for our little bundle. Ryan’s parents bought us a crib and changing table recently! It was SO hard not to put together as soon as it arrived. It’s still in the box… waiting to move. We ordered our cloth diapers from Cotton Babies, and those should be arriving in the next couple days as well! AND our stroller will be here too… I think I’m going to test it out around the neighborhood haha.

My sweetie bought me an early “birth gift”– a SUPER comfy bouncer chair from IKEA. I LOVE it and can’t wait to spend many a sleepless night sitting there with Mr. Flynn ❤

I have a baby shower in June, which I am really looking forward to as well! Anything having to do with baby is FUN FUN FUN!

Flynn is doing well… he’s growing fast. 26 weeks today! Only 2 more weeks and I’ll be in my third trimester! Oh my goodness! At our last ultrasound his little head was up by my belly button. We got to see him 3D (which I find slightly creepy looking, but hey, it’s my baby!) I can’t wait to compare this little picture to his face when he comes out! We’ve decided he has my nose for sure… and I think he has Ryan’s lips.

Fast paced change!

Ryan has a job! Hallelujah! We are so thankful to know ahead of time where we will be going and what Ryan will being doing. He will begin at FMC Technologies June 10th, as a developmental manager. This past weekend we took a trip to Longview, TX to explore our new home. It was beautiful! Lush, green, BIG trees, rolling hills. Lovely. It’s a pretty, established town with a lot to offer. I think we’ll enjoy the experience there! We were able to locate an apartment community to live in. It was fun/crazy realizing that THIS is where we’ll bring Flynn home to! We were able to meet up with Ryan’s boss for a tour of the facility he’ll be working at. It’s just 25 or so guys, seems like it’s well run and will be a great experience for  Ryan! We’ll be there for approximately one year. Once Ryan is trained and ready they’ll send him to manage his own base somewhere. They have many locations- Alaska, North Dakota, Louisiana, Colorado, California, Oklahoma, as well as international bases. We could end up ANYWHERE! We’re very excited about the next phase in our life together.

So here’s the timeline we’re currently looking at:

End of May: Pack up and move stuff to Longview. (THANKFUL that FMC will pack and move us!) 🙂

June 10th: Ryan begins job at FMC

June 27th: my last day at current job… will move to Longview that weekend! Happy to have a sweet sister who will let me/us crash with her while in transition.

July-August: I’ll be getting ready for Flynn (due August 13th)!

(As our pastor so kindly put it this morning… we’re crazy.)

So much set to happen in the next couple months! Hopefully somewhere in there we will sell our house as well. We’ve had several showings in the two weeks it’s been listed, but no bites yet!

Flynn is doing well- moving and kicking and growing! He is most active in the evenings, when I’m just chilling. Although today he was bouncing around to the music at church 🙂 We have another ultrasound for him on Wednesday. He’ll be 25 weeks then! Excited to see how much he’s grown since the last ultrasound!

I put together our gift registries for him today, which was so much fun. Feel free to look them up! Target and Buy Buy Baby 🙂

Friendship <3

23 weeks! This pregnancy is going by quickly and slowly at the same time. I cannot believe I’m already halfway there! Each week flies by. Flynn’s kicks are getting stronger and more frequent. Sometimes I can even see my tummy jump a little when he gives an extra aggressive punch or kick! My dear friend Robyn stayed at my house with her freaking adorable son this past weekend, and she was able to feel a couple kicks one of the evenings, when Flynn was being particularly active! So fun to share that with other people.

This past weekend was a whirlwind of fun and great memory making. Robyn, Brittany and Lauren all visited me, which did so much good for my heart. Although I’ve been blessed with new friendships and with my sister living here in Texas, I still miss seeing my friends that are now starting to spread out across the States.
Whenever we’re able to have even a short weekend together it is wonderful. We enjoyed the farmer’s market (always delicious food), and then went home to make cookies. In the middle of mixing up the batter our realtor called, saying he had some potentials for the house. Everyone went into action, cleaning up the kitchen, and rushing around straightening up. Somehow all 6 of us got out of the house in record time. We enjoyed some fro-yo in the sunshine while waiting for the walk-through to finish. I guess that’s going to be life for the next couple months. Relaxing one minute, rushing out of your freshly cleaned house the next! Praying someone buys it quickly! But back to my friends… saying goodbye was so hard! I don’t realize how much I miss all of them until I get to spend time with them. Then the time is too short. I am so grateful for the wonderful people God has placed in my life. ❤ No matter where we all move I know that they will always have a special place in my heart, and that our friendship an span the distance.

Speaking of distance… Ryan has a second interview tomorrow! If he is offered this job we’d most likely be moving to Louisiana! Not on the top of my list of places to live, however, we can’t help but get excited for a change. I think we’re both ready to know where we’ll be going, so we can start adjusting. We’ve looked online at houses and schools in the area, getting a feel for what life would be like there. Prayers are appreciated for us during this process!

Small Little Kicks

I love finding out how many other women are pregnant! This is the season for babies! It’s wonderful being able to share in this amazing journey with others… to share “me too’s” and “oh my gosh, are you kidding me’s” and to laugh with each other over the little quirks that come along with being pregnant. It’s quite the ride, so many ups and downs. And what I’m finding more and more is that each woman’s pregnancy is so unique to her. I have loved getting to know other preggo’s on They have been such a blessing- I can bounce ideas off of them, ask embarrassing questions, and talk about pregnancy with others who are due the same month as me and are generally at the same stage!

Flynn Update:

He’s moving around a ton now… I feel him daily. Ryan was able to feel a super strong kick a few days ago, which he loved. Flynn is most active during the evenings… usually when I’m driving home from work.  He’s 22 weeks tomorrow! I have an appointment to check up on everything, hear his little heartbeat, and make sure I’m doing good. My family has been in town and I’ve received some adorable little onesies from my mom and sister ❤ I can’t wait to see him in them. They look SO small… it’s amazing how little babies are. I’ve been pretty tired- partly due to Mr. Flynn growing like crazy, and partly due to a lot of house projects… which leads me to my…

…House Update:

We are putting a For Sale sign up tomorrow and the realtor’s photographer is coming to take pictures of the house. We’ve been working like crazy over the weekends and every evening to get the house ready. I’m exhausted! It’s amazing how quickly I tire and get sore just because I’m caring around a little bump with me now. We have been so blessed to have my family visiting… they’ve been troopers, helping us complete so many tasks! We honestly could not have done it without them. Getting a home ready to sell is FRUSTRATING… especially when you try and DIY it. We’ve laid wood-laminate floors, which look great, but have been a hassle. Next time I think we’ll save up the extra few thousand and have a professional do it. That’s how annoying it’s been. But soon our house will be in tip-top shape and all we’ll have to do is keep it clean and pray for a buyer! We’ll officially list the house on Monday. Quite the adventure! Depending on how quickly we sell the house we may be looking at packing up and putting our stuff in storage for the remainder of our time here. My sister has graciously agreed to letting us stay with her temporarily if needed while in transition. Praying that the timing works out so that we can have a smooth transition.

Job Update:

The hubby has a 2nd interview with FMC Technologies on the 16th! Prayers are appreciated. The location would most likely be in Louisiana. He’s excited about this job opportunity… the company is actually hiring for two different positions. Not sure yet which he is being interviewed for (or may it is both?). They contacted him today, making travel arrangements for him. We’re excited about where the Lord is leading us. It will be relieving to know WHERE the Lord is leading us as well. Even if it does have to be Louisiana, I’d rather start adjusting to the idea earlier. It’s fun to dream, and look at what houses are for sale in the area. Makes moving seem exciting (because I haven’t had to start packing a ton yet). If he does not get a job offer from FMC he will attend another job conference in May, which would hopefully lead to some more job opportunities. We’re very hopeful, and trusting God! It’s an exciting adventure to be on as newlyweds. 🙂

It’s a BABY…!

FLYNN DANIEL will be arriving this August! We are so excited about having a little boy to love on. As you may remember I was positive we were having a little girl (but was completely fine with either!) so when the tech announced “It’s a boy!” at our ultrasound it was a fun surprise! Ryan’s response was to pump his fist in the air..”yesssssss.” It was a wonderful moment.
Because everyone is asking about his name: We just liked Flynn. My sister suggested it. The only time I’ve heard it is in Tangled (Flynn Rider). But we’re going with it! Daniel is after Ryan’s dad!

Everything looked great with little Flynn. Heart was beating at around 150bpm, and he was comfortable and cozy. The nurse tried to get him to move a couple times so she could take some better pictures, but he only moved a little and actually laid there with both hands behind his head haha! We got to see him yawn, which was just too cute.
He currently weighs 1/2 pound, which is right on target. The doctor did not see anything to be concerned about. My thyroid is under control, and the fibroid in my uterus is towards the back, so shouldn’t cause any issues with delivery! Thank you Lord!

  • In other news:

Ryan and I have been working like crazy to get our house ready to put up on the market. After a lot of discussion, prayer, and thought, Ryan and I decided it’s time for him to leave the Army once his contract is up… which is the end of July! I’m so looking forward to no more field exercises, gone for long periods of time, and the crazy insane hours he sometimes pulls. Prayers are appreciated as he searches for a job. (Our dream would be to live in Tulsa, OK). He is working with head-hunter agencies and has already had several interviews. Several of the jobs are here in Texas… Dallas, Houston, West Texas… We’ll go wherever he can get a good job, but I’m hoping it’s somewhere I’ll also be happy 😉   I know that no matter where we end up God has a great plan for us.
Here’s what our timeline looks like:

As we’re getting ready to stage the house there have been many changes. Taking down all of the personal photos, installing new flooring in the living room, putting in new countertops. The house doesn’t feel quite as homey any more. But we are hoping to sell quickly and be able to move on!

If everything goes as hoped we’ll sell our house and live with my sister for any remaining time in Texas. June 9th Ryan can officially begin a new job (wherever that may be). I plan to continue to work until the beginning of July, and then join Ryan. This will give us time to get settled into our new house or apartment and I’ll have around a month and 1/2 to get settled with a new doctor and get Flynn’s room set up! Perfect time for nesting.

Ryan and I go back and forth between realizing how crazy we are for choosing all of these big changes at one, and being excited for what’s to come! We trust it will work out, and that we’ll get through. But it’s a lot to through at newlyweds… by our one year anniversary we’ll have gone on quite the adventure. I’m so thankful to be married to such a solid man. We work so well together and are able to make decisions we’re both pleased with and supportive of.

A few prayer requests: Insurance! Once Ryan begins his new job we’re praying that we have sufficient insurance for baby’s arrival! New home! We have not yet decided if we will look for a new home to purchase, rent a duplex, etc. Job for Ryan! He’s looking and has had several interviews. As the time gets closer he’s expecting to receive offers… prayers for wisdom are greatly appreciated! We truly want to make the best decision for us, and for our little family and not focus only on the money or location.

Thank you everyone for your congratulations and encouragement to us during this time! It’s tiring, but exciting.

Live a bold and fabulous day!
